Tazeboudjt, Algeria · in design development
A retreat of boutique hotel villas on a headland above the Mediterranean, designed for a developer as a single destination rather than a row of rooms. The scheme works with the fall of the land: villas step down the slope so each keeps its own view and its own quiet, gathered around a colonnaded court, a long pool and terraces that reach the shoreline and a private jetty. The architecture is deliberately classical — carved stone, arched glazing, a glazed dome over the stair hall — and the interiors follow it, so the building reads as one idea from the water to the last light fitting. It is in design development; nothing here is built yet.
Cream limestone and carved stone throughout, patterned marble floors laid in black and white, ironwork to the gates and balconies, and a glazed dome over the stair hall. Planting is kept to clipped evergreens and olive, so the architecture and the sea carry the view.
Joinery, wardrobes and upholstered furniture are produced in Arkenstone’s own 10,000 sq. ft. Dubai atelier, with no outsourcing. See inside the atelier.
